Luchtbegrafenis (Sky Burial in Dutch), the latest addition to our ever-growing catalogue of post-rock gems, sets itself aside for its uniquely hermetic character, a sonic abyss from which it is nearly impossible to make it out unscarred. But it's for the best, we promise.

A special thanks to the band for all the time, sweat and blood they put into this record. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful debut album!

BIO

After four years of writing, touring, and managing line-up changes, Belgian post-metal outfit AUFHEBUNG is back with a new record.

With ‘Luchtbegrafenis’ (English: Sky Burial), the band is entering a new, more mature phase in its highly creative songwriting and production. On this sophomore release, the band explores the opposition between life and death, growth and decay, through the lens of ritual. The fleeting fragility of life and materiality are pitted against their direct opponents of death and ritual. Along the six tracks, the topics inspiring the densely layered songs evolve from mass-consumption to ecocide, technological dominance, and religion.

At once ruthless and delicate, the record weaves a quilt of influences such as sludge, doom, post-metal and crust punk, and Eastern European classical music.

For fans of Amenra, Russian Circles, Pelican, The Ocean.
